CloudMates Migration Launchpad for AWS

Move from migration planning to production execution with confidence

Cloud migration is rarely just about moving workloads. The real challenge is turning strategy into execution while managing application dependencies, cutover risk, security controls, operational readiness, and business continuity.

CloudMates Migration Launchpad for AWS helps organizations move from migration planning to production execution through a structured, wave-based migration and modernization approach. It is designed for customers that have completed cloud assessment and mobilization activities and are ready to migrate applications, servers, databases, storage, and platform workloads to AWS.

The offering brings together migration execution, cutover planning, application validation, modernization pathways, observability, security checks, cost optimization, and post-migration stabilization into a single delivery model.

Migration Launchpad is focused on the Migrate & Modernize phase. It takes the migration strategy, cloud foundation, and readiness activities from earlier phases and turns them into controlled production migration execution.

Built for controlled migration execution

Every migration has moving parts: application owners, infrastructure teams, database teams, security teams, business stakeholders, third-party vendors, and operations teams. Without a structured execution model, migrations can quickly become fragmented and risky.

CloudMates Migration Launchpad introduces a repeatable delivery model that organizes migration into clearly defined waves, runbooks, validation gates, and handover activities.

The approach is designed to help customers answer practical execution questions:

Which workloads should move together?
What dependencies must be validated before cutover?
How will rollback be handled?
Who signs off technical and business validation?
How will migrated workloads be monitored after cutover?
What needs to be optimized after migration?

By addressing these areas upfront, the migration becomes more predictable, measurable, and aligned with business expectations.

Core capabilities

CloudMates Migration Launchpad brings together the technical, operational, and governance capabilities required to move workloads to AWS in a controlled and repeatable way. The offering is structured around migration waves, validated cutover, modernization options, post-migration visibility, and operational transition.

Migration wave execution

Migration Launchpad organizes workloads into practical migration waves based on business priority, technical dependencies, criticality, complexity, and readiness. This helps customers avoid isolated one-off migrations and instead follow a clear execution rhythm across applications, environments, and business units.

Each migration wave follows a structured lifecycle covering preparation, test migration, cutover, validation, hypercare, and handover. CloudMates works with application owners, infrastructure teams, security teams, and business stakeholders to define ownership, timelines, readiness gates, and success criteria before execution begins.

Workload migration

The offering supports migration across applications, servers, databases, storage platforms, VMware workloads, cloud-hosted workloads, and containerized workloads.

Depending on the customer environment and migration strategy, CloudMates uses AWS-native migration services and proven migration patterns to support workload movement into AWS. Common services may include AWS Application Migration Service, AWS Database Migration Service, AWS Migration Hub, AWS DataSync, AWS Backup, AWS Systems Manager, Amazon EC2, Amazon RDS, Amazon Aurora, Amazon ECS, Amazon EKS, Amazon S3, and Amazon CloudWatch.

Cutover planning and validation

Production cutover is one of the most sensitive points in any migration. CloudMates supports customers with detailed cutover planning, rollback preparation, communication gates, and go/no-go checkpoints.

For each migration wave, CloudMates prepares migration runbooks covering pre-cutover checks, replication validation, access and connectivity validation, DNS or routing updates, application smoke testing, database validation, business validation, rollback procedures, and post-cutover monitoring. The objective is to ensure every cutover is planned, approved, executed, validated, and documented.

Modernization pathways

Not every workload should move in the same way. Some workloads may be rehosted quickly, while others may benefit from replatforming, database modernization, containerization, or application modernization.

Migration Launchpad supports practical modernization pathways such as rehosting workloads to Amazon EC2, replatforming databases to Amazon RDS or Amazon Aurora, moving applications to Amazon ECS or Amazon EKS, modernizing storage with Amazon S3 and lifecycle policies, and building a modernization backlog for future phases. This allows customers to migrate pragmatically while still creating a clear path toward long-term modernization.

VMware workload migration

Many organizations are reassessing VMware environments due to licensing changes, infrastructure refresh cycles, data center exit programs, or broader cloud modernization goals.

CloudMates helps customers migrate VMware workloads to AWS through discovery validation, workload grouping, replication setup, test migration, cutover planning, application validation, and stabilization. The goal is not only to move virtual machines, but to create a path toward improved scalability, resilience, security, and cost visibility on AWS.

Where appropriate, VMware workloads can be migrated using rehost patterns first and progressively modernized through managed databases, containers, storage optimization, automation, and cloud-native services.

Security, compliance, and operational readiness

Migration success depends on more than application availability. Security, access control, logging, backup, compliance, and operational readiness must be validated before workloads move into production.

CloudMates includes security and operational validation throughout the migration lifecycle, covering identity and access, network routing, security groups, encryption, backup readiness, logging, monitoring, compliance, data residency, and operational runbooks. For customers in regulated industries such as Financial Services and Public Sector, CloudMates can also support governance and compliance alignment through DatrixOne, CloudMates’ complementary GRC platform with 12+ master control frameworks.

Observability and post-migration visibility

After migration, teams need to know whether applications are performing as expected. CloudMates helps establish the right monitoring and observability baseline for migrated workloads so they are measurable, supportable, and ready for steady-state operations.

This may include Amazon CloudWatch monitoring, log forwarding, application dashboards, infrastructure dashboards, alerting rules, service health checks, Datadog integration where required, and operational runbooks.

FinOps and post-migration optimization

Migration is often the start of a new cost management journey. Once workloads are running on AWS, customers need visibility into consumption, sizing, tagging, storage usage, licensing, and optimization opportunities.

CloudMates supports post-migration optimization through rightsizing analysis, tagging validation, cost allocation review, storage optimization, Savings Plans and Reserved Instance recommendations, license optimization, usage reporting, and cost dashboards. This helps customers improve cost visibility and identify optimization opportunities after migration.

Hypercare and handover

Migration Launchpad includes a structured post-cutover stabilization period to support migrated workloads after production cutover. During hypercare, CloudMates works with customer teams to monitor workload behavior, triage issues, validate operational processes, review performance, and confirm readiness for handover.

Handover typically includes final migration documentation, operational runbooks, monitoring and alerting overview, known issues register, post-migration recommendations, knowledge transfer sessions, and customer sign-off.

Transition to FlexOps Managed Services

For customers that require ongoing support after migration, CloudMates can transition migrated workloads into FlexOps Managed Services.

FlexOps provides continuity from migration execution into long-term cloud operations, including monitoring, incident triage, change management, backup validation, security posture reviews, cost optimization reporting, operational dashboards, monthly service reviews, and cloud governance support. This helps customers maintain stability, governance, and optimization after cutover.
